The McCarty Ranch is located in the beautiful French
Valley/Temecula area of Southern California, just
around the bend from the famous Wine Country of
Temecula. We are within one hour of Ontario
International Airport, John Wayne or San Diego
(Lindbergh Field). We also have a smaller regional
airport, French Valley Airport, within 10 minutes of
our facility.
Even though we are very close to the booming cities of Murrieta, Menifee and Temecula, the
Ranch still retains the quiet country atmosphere, clean air and beautiful views that the horses and
trainers enjoy every day. Expect to find every top quality amenity for your Reining horse. Our
main arena is 300 x 150 and our smaller arena is 150 x 100. Our two MD brand show barns are
equipped with automatic timed lights, automatic waterers and a fly system. All stalls have plenty
of ventilation and allow the horses to see what’s going on during the day! We also offer outside
boarding of horses in training in pipe corrals. The trainers and ranch help live on the ranch for
you and your horse’s piece of mind..

Like most young women in the sport, Amy fell in love with horses at a very young age.
Originally she was drawn to English riding and took lessons in that discipline.
With her natural riding talent, she worked her way up through the riding school
ranks and began competing in Hunters and Equitation in the San Diego area.
At age 18, Amy became the head of a riding school program in the Del Mar, California area.
It was there that she began to hone her natural teaching talent as a riding
coach, which serves her well in the Reining world and especially working with the
non pros. It was also during that time that she first rode a western horse and fell in
love with the disposition and willing response. She continued her western
riding in College in Oklahoma and started colts for western performance events.
After college Amy worked for 3 western trainers, starting colts and perfecting
her show experience prior to being asked to join Roberta and Jim at McCarty Ranch.
Her first year at McCarty Ranch, Amy won her first NRHA money by making
the Limited Finals in the Rancho Murieta Spectacular Futurity. She qualified
Mr Hollywood Whiz owned by Kathie Thayer in the NRHA Western Affiliate Finals in
2006 amongst other wins. In 2007 she and Mr Hollywood Whiz teamed up
again and Amy won the Limited and Intermediate Affiliate Finals at Scottsdale Arizona.
This team also were year end Champions in the California Reining Horse
Association Open division. With Busy Cash N Chex, owned by Stu Hoyt,
Amy won the 2007 CRHA Novice Horse open year end as well. Currently,
Amy is leading for year end honors in both the CRHA and PCHA Open, as well as
staying #1 in most NRHA Limited/Intermediate classes.
The McCarty Ranch specializes in Reining horses and is proud to offer quality training talent,
honesty, and a great work ethic in the form of our Head Trainer, Amy Walden. Amy has been
assistant and then Associate to Roberta and Jim McCarty for over three years. She is now our
head trainer, and we are exceedingly confident that she will be able to handle all our clients needs.
Please take a few moments to look around our revised web site and get to know more about our
training program. Feel free to Contact Us for any additional questions you might have about our
program or sale horses. Please feel free to come and visit our facility at any time.

Killiany. Robin was hired by Roberta and Jim 2 years ago. Born and
raised in Ohio, Robin has won 2 World Championships as a youth at the Buckskin
Horse Association World Championship show as well as 3 Top Ten finishes at the
Congress. She also qualified to compete in the USEF Young Riders program, winning the Bronze Medal
in Lexington, Kentucky. Working for one other trainer prior to making the move
to California, Robin has exhibited a great natural feel for horses and people alike.
Both she and Amy excel in non pro coaching and enjoy helping people achieve
their goals with their Reining Horse. These two young ladies are supported and
